Obituary & Life History

Reda Virginia Evans Tweedie, 77, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2024, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on December 8, 1946, in Keyser, West Virginia, Reda was the daughter of Alston “Date” and Nellie (Propst) Evans and the youngest sibling of seven. Reda was a cheerleader and the valedictorian of her class at West Virginia School of the Deaf and Blind, before furthering her education at Gallaudet University, where she met the love of her life, Robert Tweedie. Reda and Robert were united in marriage on July 8, 1967, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey. They settled in St. Louis, where they built a cherished life together.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Reda was an active member of her local deaf community, and a Membership Coordinator for Gateway Silent Seniors for three years.

Reda leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her adoring husband, Robert, and their children: Lynn (Jeff) Salzman of Boonville, MO, Janet (Marty) Boner of Sikeston, MO, and Rob (Cass Megraw) Tweedie of Newport Beach, CA.

Though preceded in death by her son, Andrew Tweedie, and two brothers, James and Delmas Evans, Reda’s memory lives on through her six grandchildren: Alexander (Katelyn) Nail of Grand Rapids, MI, Kathrynne Nail of Lubbock, TX, Lucas (Shiloh) Boner of Oran, MO, Claire (Treyton Perkins) Bonner of Cape Girardeau, MO, John Martin Boner of Sikeston, MO, and Logan Tweedie of Newport Beach, CA; as well as her two great-grandchildren: Mia Salzman and Blakely Boner.

She is also lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings: Iva Jean Ervin of Virginia Beach, VA, Vernie “Dinnie” Dean of Broadway, VA, Guy Evans of Las Vegas, NV, Patricia Clark of Bridgewater, VA; and three sisters-in-law: Ann (Larry Ercolino) Few of Linfield, PA, Sara Losse of Kirkwood, MO, and Susan (Randy) Sprague of Webster Groves, MO.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by memorial services at 1:00 pm, at Kutis Funeral Home (5255 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129). A graveside service will follow at Shepard Hills Cemetery (Barnhart, MO). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Reda’s honor.
